Scenes that make Suffield Township a nice place to live.

The above and below pictures of the Mogadore Reservoir on SR 43 about 8 miles south of Kent, Ohio are very popular with fishing and camping folks. The pictures were taken while standing on the famous Buckeye Trail. The dock shown on the right side of the above picture is a nice place to introduce kids to fishing.

Below are 3 fine Golf Courses with fine dining too.

Mulligan Springs Par 3 Party Center, Suffield Springs, and Paradise Lake Golf & Banquet Center are popular locations for golf, social occasions, and family outings.

The many rural scenes and our active 4-H programs.

Our beautiful new Suffield Elementary School.

The “Home of the Blimp” and the new Goodyear colors on the Hangar.

This site is the “Kitty Hawk” of lighter than air flight.

Josephine Demboski, our President, rode the Suffield Historical Society float in the Suffield Memorial Day Parade and above in the Portage County Bicentennial Parade.

There was quite a fireworks display in front of the Portage County Court House to end the Portage County 200th anniversary celebration.

Above, is the display that Suffield presented in the County Engineer's and Township's tent at the Randolph Fair. The left column describes how a Township evolves into a suburban community. This is an important process to be aware of and how the need for Stormwater Management and Farmland Preservation efforts came to be.

The middle column lists the NEW things that have appeared in Suffield this year. Top to bottom are our new Fiscal Officer, Lori Calcei and former Clerk – now Fiscal Officer Assistant, Paul Young; the new Suffield Elementary School with the Lion's Park in the background; the new colors of the Blimp Hangar; the setting up for the August Music Festival; and at the bottom is a picture of the Fire Station “Thank You” sign for their Levy from which a small portion will be applied toward a new Fire House in the background. Also shown is Road Department's new one-ton dump truck. I jokingly positioned it as nearly attached to the 1950's V-plow which it would only be able to push with an assist from a 1960's Saturn V-5 rocket.

The column on the right features the Suffield Township Historical Society and Museum. President Josephine Demboski is shown in one picture as she rides a Memorial Day Parade float with the theme “Come spin a yarn with us.” The next picture shows Eagle Scout Mark Jordan as he presents a book on Suffield's History that he compiled. The Scouts have been very helpful in gathering information on Suffield's past.

The next few pictures are of Residents studying the materials and artifacts in the Museum.

A WW2 Veteran is shown at the bottom of the right column to make people aware that the Historical Society is assembling a listing and the stories of our Veterans. At the least, details as to who and where they served and if they want to, a story of their experiences. This Veteran has some funny stories about boa constrictors and sleeping outdoors.

The very bottom of the display case highlights some of the great reasons for living in Suffield. The Golf Courses – Suffield Springs-330-628-1500, Paradise Lake Golf and Banquet Center-330-628-1313, and Mulligan Springs Par 3 Party Center-330-628-5139. Then Suffield's south boundary has the Quail Hollow State Park. Mogadore Reservoir (Buckeye Trail) is great for fishing and on SR 43 near the fishing dock is a nice picnic bench area to just sit and enjoy the scenery.

Suffield's Lions Park and Hall behind the Elementary School are a modern handicapped accessible site for family reunions. The Lions Park has a walking path around its perimeter which is nice for a before or after work cardiovascular moment.
